Back Home
In 1999, we were hit by a large tornado!  Our home was destroyed but we were very blessed.  The entire town was.  They claimed about 75% of area was damaged or destroyed.  The devastation was incredible.  But not one life was lost.  It demolished the high school and primary school...both full of children.  Teachers actually covered the school kids with their own bodies for protection.  Parents were scrambling to get in the school.  It hit right before school was let out.
After the tornado went through, no one had phones...all power lines were down...no one knew anything other than what they  could see. I knew I was lucky to have that scared little boy in my arms.  The neighbors all checked on us...mostly to make sure we weren't in the trailer.  Billy was headed home when he heard it did hit ...He was right behind it.  When he got to town...well, it was awful...Big rigs flipped upside down...entire buildings leveled...the gas leaks...No traffic could pass through...Billy parked and ran through town...he met up with one of our neighbors, who told him that we were ok...he was pale as could be when he got here...All of our animals were OK...others were not so lucky.  Billy spent the next several days helping people catch loose animals, freeing some from colapsed barns...doctoring hurt ones. My little dog still has flashbacks when it gets cloudy!
Two days after Christmas in 2000, we gave birth to our LAST baby!  She was born in a horrid ice storm!  Sceduled C-section, but since all smaller hospitals shut down when the ice storm knocked out the power, they had 10 women  in full blown labor that morning.  Sure, we'll come back later.  So we had her later, stayed my three days...and went to Daddy's where we stayed for 11 days until the lights came back on.  Dad had a gas stove, hot water heater, and he bought a big gas heater...we were all electric!  My fish tank full of fish froze solid!
