Six adults and one child in a trailer made the 10 mile trip starting from Madison Plaza, across the Hawthorne Bridge to Lovejoy Fountain Park, on to NW Lovejoy and 25th and back across the Broadway Bridge on the way to Lone Fir Cemetery.
Asa Lawrence Lovejoy (March 14, 1808 September 10, 1882) is best remembered as a founder of the city of Portland, Oregon. He was a legislator in the Provisional Government of Oregon, mayor of Oregon City, and a general during the Cayuse War in 1847. Lovejoy Street in Northwest Portland and the Lovejoy Fountain in Downtown Portland are named in his honor.
In 1843, Lovejoy and traveling companion William Overton split a claim to a tract along the Willamette River. This site would later become part of downtown Portland. Overton soon sold his share to Francis Pettygrove and Lovejoy and Pettygrove held their famous coin toss in 1845 to decide the name of the city.

There was some discussion about the grave stone that read Born:
Leslie Carter Hansen Died: Eric Ladd. I wasn't able to find much
history but I did learn that the Eric Ladd buried under that marker is
known as Portland's first historic preservationist and is the person
who bequeathed $390,000 to the Pittock Mansion. Eric Ladd is not
related to the W. S. Ladd for whom Ladd's Addition is named. I could
find nothing about the name change.
