| Our Week at a Glance |
| October 15, 2001 |
| Language Arts We will continue with the Alexander Caldor story. With this story we will discuss: paraphrasing, using parts of a book, the beginning consonant sounds of "sw", "sn", and "st" and the ending consonant sounds of "ch", "tch", "sh", and "th". Our next story is one of my favorites, Through Grandpa's Eyes. We will be defining words through context clues, looking at words that end with the consonant sounds of "ft, "st", "sk", and "nk" and sequencing using signal words. |
| Math Related Subtraction Facts and Fact Families Problem Solving Strategies Wednesday will be a review of chapter 4 Thursday will be a test on Chapter 4 Subtracting 9 |
| Spelling This week all of our words will have the "vowel-consonant-silent e" pattern. They include: five, late, nine, made, side, ate, five, same, hide, line. The Elephant words are: give and have. |

| Dates to Remember October 19th is the next and final ET of this period. There is a mandatory meeting for parents of second graders concerning the sacramental programs on Wednesday, October 24th at 6:15 in the church. Please bring your child's Baptimal Certificate with you if they were not Baptized at St. Germaine. There will be no school for students on October 26th. School pictures will be taken on Monday, November 6th. |
