Exposition
The Princess Bride is a wonderful adventure and love story all rolled into one. A young and beautiful milk maid named Buttercup grew up with her parents and their farm boy in Florin. The boy's answer for everything she said was always, "As you wish". In time they fell in love and Westley, as the boy was called, sailed to America to earn a better life. His ship was attacked by pirates though, and Buttercup was proposed to by the Prince.

Conflict
When she was kidnapped by three misfit criminals (Vizzini the hunchback genius, Inigo the wizard fencer, and Fezzik the giant) a mysterious man came to her rescue. This Man in Black turned out to be Westley! After enduring the Fire Swamp, the Prince imprisoned him and took Buttercup back. A month later he murdered him.

Climax
Inigo, realizing he needed the Man in Black's help to avenge his father, brought his courpse to Miracle Max to bring him to life. Inigo's father was killed by a six-fingered man, who waited within the castle.  After some coaxing Max agreed, but the effects would only be temporary.

Resolution
Westley, Inigo and Fezzik fought their way into the castle and right away found... the Six-Fingered Man! Inigo chased him down and killed him as Westly looked for Buttercup. He found her just as she was about to kill herself. They held each other close and kissed until Humperdink appeared. Westley, though still "mostly dead", stood up to him, raised his sword and disarmed him. After humiliating and restraining the Prince, they all rode off into the sunset on four white horses.
"So there you have it pig. There you know you miserable vomitous mass, and I say this now, and live or die, it's up to you: Drop your sword."

About William Goldman
The Princess Bride
Westley is the protagonist, or good guy. He wants only to be with Buttercup till the day he dies.

Prince Humperdink is the
antagonist. He wants to marry Buttercup just to become king. He also plans on killing her afterwards.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It doesn't go by the rules of a typical love story either. I'd definately recommend it to anyone and everyone. It entertains all ages and covers all genres. Fencing for sports fans, true love for romantics, and adventure for adrenaline seekers.
