| The men of the villages hunted food. They hunted far away from home so they could get the food they ate and grew.Women grew and ate corn,squash,beans, sweet potatoes, and pumpkins. They also gathered wildberries and grew and gathered strawberries. They hunted deer,elk,fox,turkey,and bear. Cherokee men were also fishermen.Many years later,men took over the gardening and selt the flute outside the clan. |
| Cherokees built large villages. Lots of them stretched far distances along the river. They lived in round houses made of wood. In the middle of each village there is a council home made of sapling and mud. The villagers have parties and meetings in the council |
| One of the women jobs was to sew. The needles were made out of bones. One of the womens clothing were tear dress.The reason its called a tear Cherokee men wore a breechcloth. This was a piece of deer skin. It passed between the legs. It was tied with a belt. |
| Cherokees lived in North Carolina,South Carolina, Georgia,Tennesse,and Alabama. Some people from another country had traded their land. They forced to move to Oklahoma. Thousands of them dreded. |
| At the beginning of the removal, there were several thousand cherokees traveled to the Indian Territory by the boat. The majority,however, went in caravans on overland routes. The country side sorrounding the city of Tahlequah has rolling hills and forests of the oak and the hickory. A street sign in Tahlequah carries a phrase in cherokee language which means "The main road,Tahlequah." The Kee-too-wah are a Cherokee clan. |

| During church Sunday 9-30-1979 Stanley John was a full blood Navajo which lives in Tahlequah designed it. He summited 18 different designs. |
| OnThe cherokees leader, Sequoyah, made an 86 lettered alphabet. They were the first Native Americans to write and read in their on language. Many years later whites convinced them to be like whites. One day they decided to copy of the Native American alphabet. |
