In this scene, Romeo goes to find a pharmacist. In the Middle Ages, a pharmacist mixed drugs to prevent & cure
diseases. Simce some of these drugs were poisonous, a
pharmacist had to follow strict laws in many city-states. Notice how Romeo is
able to persuade the pharmacist to break the law and sell him a poisonous
powder.
