3 things a Sentence Must Have

            1. subject

                        - simple subject – noun or pronoun

                        - complete subject – noun or pronoun + modifiers(adjectives)

 

            2. predicate

                        - simple predicate – verb or linking verb

                        - complete predicate – verb or linking verb + object or modifiers(adverbs)

            3. complete thought

 

 

5 Ways That Nouns/Pronouns Can Be Used In a Sentence

            1. subject

                        - doer of the action

                        -Sally tells great stories. Sally is the doer of the action.

            2. direct object

                        - a noun or pronoun in the predicate that receives the action of the verb

                        - Sally bought a dress for me. direct object

            3. indirect object

- Sally bought a dress for me. indirect object

            4. object of the preposition

                        - receives the preposition

                        -Freda went with me.

            5. predicate nominative

                        - follows a linking verb and renames the subject

                        - The beautiful girl is my older sister. predicate nominative
