ATTENDANCE POLICY   MRS. MCDONALD    2004-05   ENGLISH 9

In an event that a student misses class she is responsible for making up the work and turning it in to me personally.  If she should be unclear about what she missed, she is to come visit with me in my office, Room 235, the day she returns to school and we will discuss her missing assignments. And set a reasonable due date for them to be handed in.

If a student is out of school for an unusually long period of time due to a serious illness, she is responsible to come visit with me on her return to school in my office so that we may set reasonable due dates for turning in the missed work.

If a student knows she will be out of school for a specific reason, she is should make an appointment with me BEFORE she leaves so that we can arrange together a method of accomplishing the tasks she will miss while away. The work missed must be handed into me the day the student returns to school.

MAKE-UP WORK POLICY

Major Composition Assignments

If a student is absent as a result of illness on the day a major composition is due, she is to turn the composition in to me on the day she returns to school. If a student is not absent on a day a major composition is due but the assignment is not completed or is handed in late, she will receive a zero on the original composition and will not have the benefit of a conference. I will still correct the composition, return it to the student for a revision without the benefit of a conference and if the revision is turned in on time it will receive a grade.

Tests/Quizzes

If a student is absent for a quiz or test, she will come  visit with me in my office on the day she returns so we can make an appointment for her to make the assessment up.
