                                                Fighting the Feminine War

 

            In the inspirational article “Happy Women”, Louisa May Alcott boldly assures the

 

ladies of her time that they can find success and happiness outside of marrage. On the the

 

women in the aricle is named L., the beautiful daughter of a very wealthy man. She

 

realizes that abstaining from matrimony and pursuing career options instead can make her

 

a busy, self-satisfied and propserous person for her entire life. She follows her heart to

 

Paris where she enters medical school. Such an act taken by a woman of that time period

 

was unheard of and thouroughly unaccepted, but L., believed that she could do more

 

ggod for the world by channeling her talents into adiing the sick and poor that marrying.

 

L. and the other strong woman interviewed for this article proved by their decisions and

 

actionsthat happiness and success could be accomplished outside of the bonds of

 

matrimony.
