FORMAT FOR A FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY ON A FEMALE AUTHOR
Introductory Paragraph Using the speech and oral techniques discussed in class, begin your essay with a catchy phrase, definition, quote or anecdote. Include a second and or third sentence about the author which would lead your reader to your thesis statement. The thesis should include the name of the author, a mention of how her life experiences affected her writing and if all of the above presents her as a gentle woman. SEE SAMPLES

Any other pertinent information about life & experiences which could be related to her writings.
Conclude with a summary sentence.

Begin with your
personal definition of a gentle woman, using
only one trait which you believe a gentle
woman
possesses
Include in your body:
Whether you believe your author was a gentle woman or not according to your definition
Support your opinion with a reason or example found in her bio or story or both
Conclude with a summary sentence.
Conclusive Paragraph Restate your thesis. Summarize what you wrote
about your author’s life and how her life influenced her writing, specifically the story you read. Conclude
this paragraph with a statement that reiterates your opinion on gentleness.
