Your Life Map

 

 

Purpose:  To illustrate the major events of your life and map out some future goals.

 

Supplies:

bullet

full size poster board (available at stores for 30 cents or less)

bullet

Markers, crayons, colored pencils – available in the classroom

bullet

Pictures – real photos or hand-drawn pictures only – No clipart or computer art of any kind.

 

 

Directions:      

After brainstorming ideas, choose seven (7) major events that have happened in your life. 

Next, think of three (3) goals that you have for the future.  Your goal is to create a map to show these ten (10) components which revolve around a central theme.  You must follow these requirements to receive full credit:

Check off numbers as you add items to your map

 

1.         Each event should include a date (month and year is acceptable)                       _____

 

2.         Each event should include two sentences (minimum) of explanation.                 _____

 

3.         Each event should include a picture to visualize the event.                                 _____

 

4.         Events should be placed according to scale on your map.                                 _____

5.         Pictures should be colorful and creative.                                                       _____

 

6.         The whole map should revolve around a theme which represents you.                _____

You will be graded on the following rubric (25 points each):

 

1. Content:  A date is given for each event.  Each sentence adds                 _____

interesting information to the map with an identifiable theme.

 

2. Appearance:  The Life Map is appealing and colorful.  Events are           _____

placed to scale.  There is a clear order of events (past-present-future).

 

3. Creativity:  Pictures are colorful and creative.  Pictures ADD to the         _____

information on the map.

 

4. Conventions:  The sentences are COMPLETE and grammatically            _____

correct.  There are NO spelling errors.
