Autumn in Alexander County

Our school is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mtns about where the "N" in North Carolina is located on the map.

Check out this site to see a very popular road about 45 minutes from our school called the
Blue Ridge Parkway.

Special Events in Alexander County:
Oct 15-23 Alexander County Fair. Our class went on October 19th. Although we were sad about not getting to ride because of the rain, we loved the magic show, the displays and the yummy lunch made for us by the Lion's Club.
Oct 21st The Apple Festival We have a lot of Apple Orchards in our county. There is a big celebration every year at harvest time.
Oct 26th The Apple Bowl This is the big football game between East and West Alexander Middle Schools. It seems like the whole county shows up for the game. Root for East (that's our school!)
Oct 31st Trunk -r- Treating, an event hosted by many of the area churches provides a safe alternative to going door to door

North Carolina is home to over 120 species of trees, most of which are found in the mountains. Click HERE to learn more about our state and see the foliage forecast! Leaves are at their peak color between the 14th and the 21st of October this year.

We went on a nature walk and brought back some leaves and made rubbings. Don't they look lovely?
Magician at the Alexander County Fair uses one of our teachers for an illusion. Sometimes Mrs. Pruitt gets tied up...but not usually like this!
