Meet Mrs. Little
My name is Rebecca Little, and the 2008/2009 school year marks my 7th year as a Special Education Teacher. This will be my first year at Viewmont. Prior to coming to Viewmont I taught students with special needs - including autism, in a self-contained Middle School class where independence, maintaining and forming relationships with thier neuro-typical peers and real life skills were emphasized as they related to the Extended NC Standards. My first 2 years of teaching were at R.F. Patterson Elementary in Ft. Worth, Texas. Where I taught students with special needs in a Life Skills classroom and gained much of my knowledge of Autism and Positive Behavior Supports.

I attended Lenoir Rhyne College where I earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Music Education in 1994. I have also taken some graduate courses through Gordon Conwell Seminary in Charlotte, NC. I completed my licensure training coursework and a year long teaching internship through a lateral entry program while living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Teaching is my second career, although it seems to be part of a natural progression with my previous jobs in childcare and social work. I found out after I became a teacher that I come from a long line of teachers and that my Grandma had me in mind to eventually teach. I'm glad that she was able to see the fruit of her many prayers.

Recently, I completed my National Board Certification - the result of a year long intense portfolio project and hours of computerized testing. I'm proud of that accomplishment and will do my upmost to live up to those standards. When I'm not working I enjoy spending time in worship, on my bicycle or doing one of many crafts including knitting, crochet, beaded jewelry, quilting and scrapbooking. I also love reading historic fiction novels, collecting picture books, cooking, gardening, and working on the computer.
