Typically, each child will have Spelling and Math homework, and sometimes Social Studies, Science or Health. In addition, each child will be required to read for 100 minutes every week. You can do all of the 100 minutes in one night, two nights, or break it up however you would like for that week. We understand that things get busy during the week, so plan your reading accordingly.
Homework will be collected in the morning on the day it is due. Although homework is not graded because it is done for practice, each child should complete the homework to the best of his/her ability. We check the homework either with the class or privately to see whether each child understands the concepts at hand.
If homework is not turned in, then that student will be required to do the assignment during recess that day. If, for some reason, it is not completed during recess, it will be taken home to be completed. In any case, the homework will get completed, so it is advised that each child just do it and turn it in when it is due.
Of course, extenuating circumstances arise, and those will be taken into account. If something comes up and your child could not complete the homework, just send me in a note, email me, or call me to let me know.
