May 2002 (updated May 27, 2002)

You know I just haven't taken many pictures since Christmas. It seems like we have constantly been busy doing something but nothing picture worthy. This weekend we hope to go to the train festival so maybe that will change!

In the meantime here is a picture of Alan and I taken at the Liberty Ball (which was an awards ceremony for Billy's school [for parents only]). I made the sweater to with the "patriotic" theme.

We almost got a good weather day. When Billy got home from school it was almost warm enough not to wear a coat if you stayed out of the wind and in the sun. It rained later.

Billy rides the pedal wooden airplane we bought for $5 at a yard sale. Alan began painting it but it started raining and he had to quit.

You know what? Our weather has just been rotten lately! It snowed yesterday morning briefly, it snowed on us today in Durand!

The train rides were cancelled because of insurance reasons but we still went to the train festival. We got to see a lot of trains, including a VERY BEAUTIFUL steam engine.

At Durand Union Station they have a very nice model railroad set up. They're open every Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. We got to see a very long train close up as we were leaving Durand Station to go ride some rides. Here are the rest of the pictures.

May 27, 2002 - Potters Park Zoo

Here was the deal--we couldn't decide whether to go to the Saginaw Children's Zoo or Potters Park Zoo this weekend. So we went to Saginaw yesterday and Lansing today! We did both but we still did not see a giraffe! I guess I see a trip to the Detroit Zoo in our future.

Monkeying around....

You can't tell very well because he was so darned FAST but this is a Siberian Tiger. In the first picture he's walking away from the boys. In the second picture he is walking towards them. He's walking very fast! I needed that 1000 speed film for thsee!

Dad bought us some cotton candy on the way out and we stopped outside the zoo at the city park to eat and play for a little bit.
