The Miss Daicon figure kit! Woo!
I got this kit for Christmas, and I had ambitious plans for it. It had to wait until I was done with an Ohio class submarine model for a friend, and even then I finished translating some manga, then Anime North happened, I got a figure kit there this year...
Anywho, I worked a little on this while working on another one, but I didn't keep as detailed a record as I did for my other ones. What I did record on video is a little of it presented here. ^_^
| Early work on the kit as I was trying to get her right elbow properly puttied and sanded so it looked smooth. A good sanding job is one you can't see under paint. |
| Applying paint to test the sanding to see if I can see it. I think I did and redid the elbow. This part was a pain to paint. |
| I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy painting this part. ^_^ Metallic Garnet Red was used and I tried to apply enough coats so that light shining through from inside the piece wasn't visible. |
 Working on the shoulders |
My copy of the kit had a nasty looking air bubble on her chin. I sanded it once and it went flat, but it needed to be round. I tested the look with paint, removed it and tried again. And again... |

Starting to test the sanding on the shoulders
| Before and after shots of the upper body getting paint, then getting the hair and other details with some color. ^_^ |
The mistake I made with the legs is using Opaque Black instead of Tinting black mixed in with Clear Coat. The legs did get a good layering of the skin tone paint I was using before the tinted clear coat went on. But I goofed and didn't realize it until I was done. |
The last things I painted for this kit are the ears and the eyes, in that order. I don't like these, wish they were more like the real thing. I considered making my own.. oh well. I also considered getting real shiny fabric and covering parts of the kit with that instead of painting it. I guess I got lazy and really wanted to complete this kit this year. |
| Here one leg has been filled with white playbox sand, sealed in with some filler putty. The other leg has a bit of wire running up and into the upper body for support. They've been superglued to the main torso. The fluffy tail has been attached as well. ^_^
