Spelling Homework!

Students are given spelling words every Monday.  Please do activities each week in your journal and return to school on Friday.  Work should be carefully done with neat handwriting. Parents, please check your child's work before it comes back to school.  Give your child an oral review of the spelling words each night.



Spelling Homework Activities

Choose and complete at least three activities from this list in your spelling notebook. One of these activities must be from List 1.  The others may come from List 1 or 2. Always underline the spelling words that you use in each activity.  (You are always welcome to do more than three activities!!)  

List 1

Story- Write a story using all of your   words.  The story can be read or make believe!

Letter-Write a letter to your teacher or classmate using all of your spelling words.

Newspaper-Write an article for a newspaper using all of your spelling words.

Sentences-Use each of your spelling words in a sentence.

 

 

 



 

List 2

ABC Order-Write all of your words in alphabetical order.

Circle Consonants-Write your words and circle all of the consonants with a crayon.

Colored Vowel-Write your words with a pencil.  Trace the vowels in each word with a crayon.

Rainbow Words-Write your words in pencil.  Trace them three times with three different colored crayons.

Spelling Stairs-Write the first letter of your spelling word in a box.  Below that, write the first and second letters in 2 boxes.  Continue this pattern until the whole word is written.

Rhyme-Write your spelling words.  Next to each word, write a word that rhymes.

Synonym-Write your spelling words. Next to each word, write a word that means the same.

Antonym-Write your spelling words.  Next to each word, write a word that means the opposite.

Definition-Write the definition for each of your spelling words.
