Grading:

Mathematics 8    80% Tests, Quizzes, Projects,

                         20%  Homework, Classwork, Projects

Honors Algebra  90% Tests, Quizzes, Projects,

                         10% Homework, Classwork, Projects

Bring to Class Each Day:

!     A binder or notebook just for math.  Please do not share your notebook with another subject since you will fill it up quickly and it makes it easier when taking notebook quizzes.

!    Something to write with; pencils are the best but blue or black pens are okay.

!    Agenda pad

!    Math textbook

!    Calculators will be supplied in class.  However you should have a scientific calculator at home – one that can do positive and negative numbers as well as fractions.

Homework:  Everyone hates homework.  However, it is very important for several reasons.  The main reason for homework is for you to find out whether you understand what we are learning in class!  It also helps me clear up any misunderstanding or questions you may have.  Besides, it counts as part of your grade!

!    Is assigned almost every day but usually not over the weekend.

!    Checked every day and occasionally collected.

!    You must show ALL the “work” this way you, another student, or I can find out where an error may be.  You may not get full credit if you do not show the work.

Absences:  When you are absent from school you will receive a sheet outlining what we did in class including the homework; you must get the notes from another student. If you have music lessons, you must come to class first to get the homework.  You will be responsible for any notes or classwork that you missed.

Classroom Expectations:

©      Be respectful to EVERYONE in the room as well as objects in the room

©      Follow directions the FIRST time given

©      Be on time to class and with assignment
