In everyday language…
“Bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending himself or herself.”
Macopin's Bullying Policy and our 4 basic rules:
bullet

We will not bully others.

bullet

We will try to help students who are bullied.

bullet

We will try to include students who are being left out.

bullet

If we know that someone is being bullied, we will tell an adult at home and at school.

By incorporating this program, our goals at Macopin are to:

bullet

change the social norms around bullying behavior

bullet

restructure the handling of bullying behaviors by the entire staff

bullet

reduce existing bullying problems among student

bullet

encourage bystanders and students to become proactive

bullet

prevent the development of new bullying problems

bullet

achieve better peer relations

bullet

improve our social climate in classrooms and throughout the school environment

We want our staff and students to send and receive a consistent message that bullying will not be tolerated in our school and that it is the faculty’s and the students'  responsibility to Stand up, Speak Out, and Step In when they see instances of bullying occurring.
