| Dear Parents, Please watch for our kindergarten sight word readers that will be coming home with your child each month. These readers have text that consists of sight-words and rebus-style pictures. Each book focuses on four to seven sight-words and features repetitive, predictable text that helps students build confidence and improve fluency. When students have mastered the twenty books, they�ll be able to recognize and read the 32 most commonly encountered words in the English language. We will practice the sight words readers weekly in kindergarten as we learn to recognize words by sight. Below is a list of sight words (32 total) to practice with your child for the months of November through April. Most of the words will be repeated. Please review the words frequently with your child. I suggest making simple flash cards and practicing them each night before bedtime. When the sight word readers come home please listen to your child practice reading the story and help him or her as needed.
