I believe in having high expectations of the children to follow classroom rules and to help them
understand the reasons behind rules. I want all of the children to have the opportunity to learn and for no student to keep another student from being able to learn. I strive to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for the children in which we work and live as a team family in our classroom.
Should your child have difficulties following our classroom rules I will try talking with your child first, possibly a time out consequence, and I may also have a child draw about the problem on a think sheet. A think sheet serves the purpose of having the child think through their problem. They draw about what the problem was, and then on the flip side, they draw what they will do the next time to avoid the problem. If these methods of correcting the behavior are not successful I have a behavior modification plan in place for children who may need visual reinforcement to help them remember our rules. If for any reason I feel like your child will need a daily behavior plan I will contact you so that together we can discuss our options.
Fighting, verbal attacks, defiant actions or other dangerous behaviors require immediate removal of a child from the classroom to Dr. Paul's office. A discipline form will be filled out and I will notify the child's parent(s) by phone immediately.
In addition, please know that I will always contact you if I feel that there is a situation that needs to be discussed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to me that we keep our lines of communication open.
