Biography
� Was born (1951) and grew up in Leeds, Yorkshire, England

� Attended Brighton Polytechnic School

� Had a daughter (Kim) when she was 20 who was given up for adoption.  She was reunited with her when Kim was 26.

� Her books are loosely autobiographical and all the characters are based on actual people (including Angus)

� Wrote humor for magazines, radio, and other comedians

� A stand-up comedienne, she wrote and performed a one-woman show entitled
Stevie Wonder Touched My Face, which she performed on tour as well as on T.V.

� Wrote a column for a London newspaper.  A segment she wrote, �Dating Over 35,� inspired Picadilly Press to invite her to write a book

� The American edition of her first book,
Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, was published in 2000

Angus was named a Michael L. Printz Honor Book (2001)

� She writes the first draft of her books in longhand

� Presently lives in the seaside town of Brighton, England

� Her favorite city is New York

� Her next book will be about a girl who emigrates to America from England
