Assignment:

You and two classmates will plan an original activity, a dance, or a multicultural game to be taught to your fellow classmates during a regularly scheduled Phys. Ed. Period.

Choices for an activity:

Game – That is an ORIGINAL, that can be played in HALF of a gym

Games that you may NOT make a part of your teaching:  DODGEBALL, or any games that include pelting others with balls.

Multicultural Game—You may research a game from another country and teach it to the class

Dance – You can create your own, copy one from a music video, or teach an established dance (i.e. Irish step dancing, ballroom dancing)

Your activity must be AGE APPROPRIATE

Requirements:

Write-up must be handed in one week prior to your teaching date. You must have a copy  of the write-up for you and your partners as well.

YOU MUST MEET WITH YOUR PE TEACHER WITHIN 2 DAYS OF HANDING IN YOUR WRITE-UP TO DISCUSS THE ACTIVITY.

You are responsible to have everything ready that is required for your

activity ahead of time.  All materials needed are organized and moved to the front of the equipment room the day before or are brought into school the day before and put in the equipment room.  You are also responsible for putting away all equipment at the end of class.

Write Up includes:

*Cover Page

            *Equipment needed

*Directions for the activity--Including rules for the game.  If you choose a dance, you do NOT have to list each dance move

*What made you decide to make up this particular game

*If teams are needed for the activity, you must have a written list of teams in advance.  They must be included in the directions.

*If you choose a multicultural game, you must include the history and origin of the game

*If you choose an established dance, you must include the history and origin of the dance

*Why you think that this is a good game/dance for PE class

Grading:

This will count as a large portion of your physical education grade for the fourth marking period.  Your participation in other students’ activities, as well as the lesson that you teach holds a large amount of weight for your grade.  If your typed directions are not handed in on time, you will lose 10 points for each day that I do not have them. You will lose 20 points if your lesson does not last the entire period (35 minutes).

TEACHING—Your actual day of teaching will count for 50 percent of your grade.

PARTICIPATING—Your participation in other students’ activities will count as 50 percent of your grade.  Each day that you are not fully cooperating and/or participating (FOOLING AROUND) will result in a 5 point deduction from your grade

Due Dates:

Projects will begin Tuesday, May 10th.  You must sign up by Wednesday, April 13th.  The date sign up sheet is located on the door to the equipment room.  Once you choose a date, you cannot change it.
