One of my many frogs waiting for his supper of flies. I initially stocked the pond with about 10 bullfrog tadpoles and a dozen or more smaller leopard frog tadpoles. In June, the frogs started climbing up on the rocks. I am assuming they are the bullfrogs, but it's hard to tell. They spend considerable time motionless waiting for the flies to land within reach. Since I added the duck weed, they like to float in the middle of the pond all stretched out (they think they are invisible). If you have never seen a frog catch and swallow a fly, it is well worth the wait. |
