We put in the deck in fall (1998) and since there aren't any trees in our backyard, we put an 8 X 8 trellis over part of it for shade. The walkway leads to the crawlspace door and the water faucet and will eventually be filled with brown stone. Notice, the hose which I use daily to water the plants around the pond. Eventually I will mulch with a redwood stained bark mulch to help keep in the moisture. The plantings consist of Daylilys, Iris, Hosta, Lady Slippers,Trilliums, Black-eyed Susans, several miniature Roses and a Blueberry Bush that wasn't doing too good in another part of the yard but is thriving here. The rest are annuals to fill in and provide color for the time being. I have put Hen and Chicks around the stones to provide some protection from erosion.
