| Journal 22. Reading. Visit the Writing page for a description of Reading Journals. Journal 23. Assigned Topic. Choose one and fill a page. (Assigned 2/26/09) Due Wednesday, March 4. Write TWO (2) original poems (your own creations). Be sure to include at least two sound devices and two examples of figurative language. (You might use one technique in one poem with the rest in the other... or arrange the requirements differently. ONE of the poems must exhibit a clear rhyme scheme.. |

Journal 25. Assigned Topic. Choose ONE and fill a page. A. Are you always being compared to your brother or sister? How does this make you feel? How does it make your brother or sister feel? What qualities do you see in your brother/sister that are good? Which qualities do you consider bad? What advice would you give to parents about comparing their children to one another? B. Have you decided on your future career? What about that career interests you? What qualifications will it require of you? Do you consider it to be easy or challenging? Why? C. Have you ever tried selling something to strangers? (Fund Raisers? Magazine Subscriptions? Cookies, Popcorn, etc.) Did you enjoy this? Do you have a particular experience that is memorable? Do you believe selling is easy? What makes it easy or hard? Due Wednesday, March 18. |

| Journal 28. Reading. Check the Writing page for information about this type of journal. Journal 29. Assigned Topic. Choose ONE and fill a page. A. Reflect on Michener's essay "When Does Education Stop?" Consider your own performance in your school work. Are you doing all you can to be challenged? Are you working to prepare yourself for a future of difficult tasks? B. Share an event from your life in which you or someone you know was punished for wrongdoing. Reflect on the event. Was the punishment fair? Did you learn from the experience? Did it change your behavior in any way? Discuss the outcomes. C. Reflect on something you have read which taught a moral lesson. Is the lesson universal to all people? Do you find yourself recalling details of the reading and see the impact of the literature in your life? Has it affected your understanding of right and wrong and/or your personal values? These journals are due on Wednesday, April 22. |
