| NEW WORLD vs. OLD WORLD FOODS ASSIGNMENTS |
| ASSIGNMENT: BREADS OF THE OLD AND NEW WORLD Staple crops (wheat, rice, potato, corn) are often used by different cultures to make different types of breads. Most cultures have a distinctive type of bread such as French baguette, Greek pita, Jewish challah, Indian poori, Mexican tortilla, German rye bread, etc. Find and print out a separate bread recipe for each of the four main staples, wheat, rice, potatoes and corn. Remember, bread is not always in the shape of a loaf, but can be flat like a tortilla, or round like a muffin. On each recipe sheet, state the culture the recipe represents and if the staple came from the Old World or the New World.
