First Grade News
Dear Families,
This week in the news...We have been learning about the rosary, the Holy Trinity, addition & subtraction problems, and the weather and seasons.  In reading we have been working on what an author and  illustrator do, and where to find the title, cover, spine, title page, illustrations, and text of a book.  We've also been reviewing our reading strategies and focusing on chunking a word.  (finding words within a word, such as the word 'and' in 'stand')

Halloween Party: We will be celebrating Halloween after the parade.  The parade starts at 1:15.  Please send your child's costume in a plastic bag with his/her name on it.  We will be changing into our costumes after lunch.  Also, please do not send any weapon or weapon looking items with your child's costume (i.e. pitch forks, knives, guns, swords, etc...)

Bethlehem Bazaar: The first grade is in charge of the Fruit & Vegetable Stand.  The Bazaar will take place on Friday Dec. 7th. Please watch for information & volunteer sheets to come home next week.

Other News: As you know, we are adopting a baby girl soon.  I am trying to get everything in order before Kacy makes her debut.  I am sending home volunteer sheets for Dec. & Jan. centers and the snack/classroom calendars for Nov. & Dec. Also, there has been a change in plans, Sharon Badovinic will be our guest teacher while I am on family leave.  I am sure she will do a great job!

Have a Spooktackular Weekend and a Happy Halloween!
