October 12, 2007
Dear Families,
We've had a great week in first grade!  We've been learning how to retell a story, about fire safety, Christopher Columbus, and subtraction problems.  In writing we've been focusing on capital letters, punctuation, and spacing between words.
Upcoming Dates to remember:
October 13th:
Oktoberfest; I hope to see you there!
Oct. 17th: Field trip!
Oct. 24th:
Muffins with mom
Field trip: Don't forget to pack a sack lunch on Wednesday for our field trip.  According to the weather report, Wednesday is supposed to be around 62 degrees.  Perfect weather for the apple orchard!!  Please be sure to dress your child in layers in case he/she gets too warm in the theather.  Also, it is very important that your child is at school on time.  We are leaving first thing in the morning and won't be able to wait for anyone.  Thanks!

Indoor Shoes:  With the cooler weather coming, I was thinking that it would be easier on everyone to leave a pair of tennis shoes in the classroom. Please be sure to write your child's name or initials on the shoes to avoid mix-ups.

Center Volunteers:  Please be sure to see the center volunteer sheet to help out in November!

Have a great weekend!
