First Grade News
Mrs. Rosted's Class
April 18, 2008
Dear Families:
This week in the news... we have been learning how to do our own written retelling using the shape go map, graphing, ou, oa, and ow words, and the seven sacraments.

We may have finally found a vowel group that always follows the rules!  I have challenged the kids to try and find a word with the vowel combination 'oa' that doesn't follow the rules.  (The rule for two vowels together is "Two vowels go a walkin', and the first one does the talkin' and says it's name" )  Therefor the rule for 'oa' would be that it will say the long o sound as in coat. I honestly cannot think of a word with 'OA' that does not follow the rule.

Save the Date: We will be going on a field trip to Traverse City to see a play on May 7th.  We will be needing parent chaperones.  I will send home a note with more information and volunteer opportunities next week.

May Center Volunteers:
Please see the attached sheet for center volunteer opportunities!  We always need parents or grandparents to help!

We have been practicing our addition and subtraction facts with math magicians online at www.oswego.org  This is a great site to help your child practice his/her math facts.

Have a great weekend!
Nicci Rosted
