First Grade News
Mrs. Rosted's Class
April 11, 2007
Dear Families:
Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break!   Can you believe this weather? I hear that we are supposed to get snow on Sunday.   I guess that winter isn't quite finished with us yet, but at least the lakes are thawing out!

This week in the news...we have been working on place value, retelling a story, (typical) spring weather, and antonyms.  April is poetry month, so we will be reading and writing poems over the next few weeks. Also, I am currently reading an incredible novel to the class called
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate Dicamillo that was donated by the Rotary for March is Reading Month. It has a rich vocabulary and I have to say that it is very hard to put down.  Ask your child to tell you about what is happening in this story.

Spelling Words:
around, new, show, yellow, coat, her, old, growing, floating, running
Indoor Shoes: Please send a pair of indoor shoes for your child to wear at school.  With the warmer weather comes muddy feet and we've been tracking in sand and dirt all over the place. Also, be sure that your child's shoes fit properly.  I've had a few complaints that their shoes are too small...and when I ask if they've told mom & dad about this yet, the answer I am getting is "I keep forgetting!"

Progress reports are coming home today!  Please be sure to sign & return the envelope to school on Monday.

Upcoming dates to remember:

April 17: Daddy Daughter Dance
April 18: Spirit Assembly

  Have a great weekend!
Nicci Rosted
