The World

The churches there are many, and many more to come
In this city that is growing faster than the people run
They are running from their past, they are running from the future.
They expect the present to last, so their lives they can suture.

Father, where are the people in their lives so full.
They are distant to each other, except to pull and  pull
In one direction or the other for a favor, for a lover,
For a good time, for a thrill, for someone to help them kill
                                                                                           time.
The Question

God, where are You in all of this? Did you create us for human bliss?
Perhaps in heaven, but not on earth where others hurt and hurt the hurt.
We have a glimpse of heaven divine, but our nature rides the line
Between the good we love and the bad we cherish
Oh that the bad would perish!

Yet we all must perish so, for in our nature evil grows.
And so the human story goes, the price of bad is death, we know.
And salvation through Christ is sown, in this land where He was once known
To be a master and a king, to be Lord of everything.
The Truth

We sow the story and the tale, of how He'll save us all from Hell,
If we believe and just have faith that Christ new life for us creates.
But how much do even we believe of it? Does the  Christ really exist
In the heart of each believer?  Does the spirit of God go stale
In the hearts of those who wail for a different kind of life;
Not the one which He intended, but the one that He once mended.

So they tear it up again, and He watches and grows saddened
Perhaps even a bit maddened at what they have done to Him.
Yet still he looks at them and says, "Come to me when you call me friend.
When you're ready for the craziness to end."
The Hope

But what of those who love Him so? Those who believe His promises
And in His Word (the Bible) grow?
Do they finish in last place? Do they scatter at the race?
Are they divided left and right by those who have more power and might?

Perhaps the answer is a question meant for others to ask and know.
How does one measure power? By the evidence that shows?

For the Kingdom Christ is building is not one that we can see,
But rather it is unseen like the souls of you and me.
And often we are looking for the mortal signs at work
Just to get a glimpse of Glory and to know that God's been good.

But the times when things seem dry, when others scorn the Word of God,
When trials and temptations and distractions keep us foddered,
Then the unseen kingdom grows just as mightily as ever,
For God's people always know he is working in their favor.
The Prayer

And their constant prayer right now is "Bring them in Lord, bring them in.
There are churches half empty, let them hear about their sin.
Father if it's Your will, use us now to bring them in.
We know the dead are many, but you can give new life to them.
Father, You know more than we this our plaintive plea,
So like always and evermore, bring them in to Heaven's door.
