Song's Death
by Beloved Harmony
I walk and fall the distance down
through deepest pain, to darkest night.
The tears of heartbreak pouring clear
my wounded soul takes heedless flight.
Do you know what heartbreak is?
Rejection, carelessly dismissed.
A night's long labour, coldly shunned
Thoughtlessly turned to a mist.
Without import, an exile drear,
banished from man's ken for aye
now unwanted, sent from sight
to languish unsung, packed away.
The thing I have created here
I nurtured with my very soul.
Now scorned and hurt it limps away
it's once bright light a dying coal.
I scatter ashes of my Song
and bitter are the tears I shed.
The gift I sought to share with all
lies faded
dingy
dusty
dead.
