Philippians 1:9-11 (New Revised Standard Version)
And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteoussness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.
Overflow like a fountain in my heart.
Love, that brings knowledge, that gives insight to rich or poor.
Giving wisdom and discernment.
Providing motivation for the harvest:
A harvest of righteoussness, a harvest of love.
When will we see the harvest?
When will we see the fruit of our labor and share in the feast of all God has done through us to the glory and credit of His Son?
In the day of Christ, when we will be found pure and blameless, love overflowing like His blood, from the heart of the Son.
Philippians 1:27
Only live your life in such a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that, whether I come and see you or am absent and hear about you, I will know that you are standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind for the faith of the gospel, and are in no way intimidated by your opponents.
No one is worthy of the gospel of Christ, but we must live like it.
He has called us into righteoussness and given us His spirit.
We strive to have one mind with Him, and with the church as well.
One mind for the faith of the gospel.
Standing firm in His spirit; we know we will prevail.
Though many rise against us who will try to intimidate
God is the great conqueror; on Him will we wait.
Not as those afraid and fearful, but strong and bold,
Ready to stand firm in the faith and uphold
The truths He has proclaimed. Proclaim it loud.
Don't be afraid of them, your opponents.
They are weak, but He is strong.
He will win in the end.
Philippians 1:29
For he has graciously granted you the privilege, not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well- since you are having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.
Life is hard; that is true.
God never said it would be easy for you.
Sometimes he calls us to suffering
Hardship, pain, and a chance to die again.
Look at it through eyes of love.
His eyes, showing us the way
Is not through comfort and pleasure
But through the rocky path the hard spots
That we wish we didn't have to climb.
You are privileged, my friend,
To share in His suffering,
To grow through the pain,
To take another insult or curse in His name.
Be thankful that you have had this chance.
Remember that suffering is limited
Only to this life (for the believer).
It is a chance to show Christ
That you want to be
Just like Him.
