The Girl in the Mirror

Who is the girl in the mirror?

The one with the dull gray eyes.

Or maybe they're green or blue or brown or black.

     Is she a brunette or a blonde, with hair short or long?

Maybe she is tall and slender and sleek,

Or maybe she is short, fat and wide.

Is that really the thing that matters?

What are the things inside?

Who is the real girl in the mirror?

What really counts?

Who knows? Not I.

Does she laugh and love and smile?

Or is she sad and dull as lead?

Does she have dignity or not?

Is she pretty inside and kind and good?

These are the things that really matter,

And these are the things that count.

   So, look again, whoever, wherever you are, and say,

"Who is the real girl in the mirror?"
