First Appearances

By K. Leigh

First Appearances can be deceiving

When parallel worlds one is dream-weaving

The one world is reality

As cold and dark as it can be.

The other is a fantasy,

A measure of ideal beauty.

We often like to think we see

The ideal in reality,

But often times, more real than not,

our "Ideals" are not what we thought.

So real and ideal then collide

like the end of a scary ride.

Sometimes one is glad to be free

of the ideal and fantasy,

and sometimes one would rather flee

ever present reality.

But either way one must decide

whether to get back on the ride,

this time with a different feel

for what is real and what ideal,

and what to look to most instead

What's in the heart or in the head.
