Daniel’s Poem

By K. Leigh

god’s eternal hand knows well why

a sensitive boy, So shy

would break out of his shell

Right when I was there to witness it.

You were a boy to me then,

A fun-loving adolescent.

Laughter sparkled from your eyes.

You were always full of smiles.

Now I read in your letters

thoughts that bring you near.

they help me to smile and hear

your laughter again.

A whole new challenge lies ahead.

One for you I almost dread.

But I can see you strong,

leaning on the lord for strength.

I can imagine your future role

protector of a family,

arbitrator between quarrels,

friend to the broken-hearted.

It is your time to shine.

May god guide where you will stand.
