The Challenge

by M. Wiitanen

"He fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will." --Matthew 26:39

Your will be done

In life’s sorrow and joy;

How easy to voice the words,

But do we try—to

Live the words said?

Amen—so be it.

Your will be done.

My heart—my all,

Such empty words

In selfish lives.

Earthly possessions we

May not know;

Success, wealth, recognition

And power may not

Adorn our lives.

Wear upon your head a crown of thorns;

Upon your back—the cross;

Embedded in your hand—a nail;

In the other, gently hold a lily

And the peace of Christ,

Glowing upon your face.

Laughter and tears,

Glory and pain,

Victory and trials,

Wealth and poverty;

Up and down the road will lead.

Serving lives,

Caring hearts and

Undying love;

To those who are willing

The words will not be empty,

"Your will be done."
