Synopsis

After being captured by Turks during the Crusades, Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner) and his friend, Azeem (Morgan Freeman), return to England to find the evil Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman) plotting to take away the kingdom from King Richard (a surprise cameo from Sean Connery). Along with his band of outcasts and a stepbrother that he never knew he had (Christian Slater), Robin embarks on a quest to restore justice to the kingdom and win the heart of his childhood friend, Maid Marian (Mary Mastrantonio). A swashbuckling medieval adventure for the entire family!

Total running time is 143 minutes.

DVD Details

Released on September 30 1997. It is a disapointing DVD with only the theatrical trailer and the production notes as extras.

The film can be accessed by a scene index, broken down into 34 chapters.and on two sides of the disc.

The sound is recorded in Dolby Surround and the picture can be watched in widescreen. The aspect ratio of the frame is 1.85:1.

Laserdisc Details

Released in November 1991. The aspect ratio of the frame is 1.75:1 and the sound is recorded in Dolby Surround.

The film is recorded on three sides and the start of side one has a bonus music video of the Bryan Adams song 'Everything I do I do it for you'.

Extended Version Two-Disc Special Edition DVD

Released in the Uk in January, this new DVD has 12 minutes never before seen footage edited into the film. It mostly concerns a dleted sub-plot between Mortianna and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
