Trivia
Rumour has it that Kevin Costner wanted to use a British accent, but director Kevin Reynolds didn't want him to. Supposedly, Costner would affect the accent when he was arguing with Reynolds, but not when they were in agreement. Costner claims that he was initially asked to use an accent, but this was stopped when he did it poorly.

CAMEO(Sean Connery): King Richard. Connery got $250,000 for two days work. He donated it to charity.

The british PG-rated version is cut two places: when one of the Sheriff`s men is saying to Lady Marian; "I have never seen the breasts of a noble lady before"; and when the Sheriff separates Marian`s legs trying to take her in the end of the wedding scene.

The PG version also cut slightly the scene in which the sheriff kills his cousin. In the original version he twists the sword quite graphically, producing a pitiful cry.

The British version also had the "F" word cut from the scene when Kevin Costner uses a catapult to get over a wall and Christian Slater says: "F**k me, he cleared it"

All initial copies of the original 1991 UK 'PG' Video had the full promo video for Bryan Adams' "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" played underneath the credits at the end of the film.

The sword used by Kevin Costner at the beginning of the film can be found at Old Wardour Castle in Wiltshire, UK where the scene was filmed. It was kept by staff as a souvenir.

A wooden facade was built for the front of Old Wardour Castle (Locksley Castle in the film) because the castle lies in ruins (as seen when Robin finds his father dead).

Pen Densham, writer/producer of the film, went to Hardley School in Southampton, UK. The same school as me, the webmaster.

The film grossed $460 million dollars worldwide.

Bryan Adams' song "Everything I do, I do it for you" still holds the record for the most weeks spent consecutively at number 1 in the UK - 17 weeks.

Apparently a second set of toys was to be released including a figure of King Richard but this never materialised. (Thanks to Chris at Waterworld fansite for that info)

On the original trailer there is a shot of Robin jumping from an out of control wagon which then lands in a lake. This was deleted from the final UK version of the movie although I believ it may be in the US version.

In the dungeon sequence in Jerusalem you can hear what appears to be an extra saying "Get the fuck off me".
