| When Robin is burying his father he cuts his hand saying he will avenge his fathers murder. "I swear it by my own blood" We clearly see the blood dripping over his fingers. Suddenly the camera shot changes and Robin's hand has miraculously healed and the blood washed away. As Robin is pulled up the chandelier rope, the end of the rope is close to falling off the pulley. One shot later, the rope is back on the pulley again, with the same length falling as was there before. The cut on Robin's chin made by Nottingham in the final fight disappears after Nottingham's death. Geographical Errors Aside from the earlier mentioned mistake of them apparently walking to Nottingham in less than a day, if Morgan Freeman was facing Mecca to pray, they set off in a southerly direction anyway. Isn't that Hadrian's Wall where Freeman and Costner first encounter the Sheriff's men? So are we to understand that they landed at Dover, schlepped all the way to the Scottish border, and then backtracked to Nottingham? Robin and Azeem land at the white cliffs of Dover. Robin says something like, 'Tonight we will dine with my father' Nottingham is 218 miles from Dover. It would probably take about 2 weeks to walk it. When Marian is embroidering at home, she is singing to herself "Le chant des oiseaux", which Renaissance composer Clement Janequin didn't write until the 16th century. Factual Errors When the outlaws' hideout in Sherwood Forest is attacked 'by surprise' there are a large number of heavy catapults, which attack the hideout. Given the density of the forest and the size of the catapults, it probably would have taken over a week to get them in position. The small poacher climbs the tree on Hadrian's wall to escape the men chasing him. If you notice we don't see him climb up the trunk of the tree. That's because it's impossible. When Robin heroically swings across to Fanny and the child in the Sherwood Forest battle scene: He swings straight across, with the rope's focal point fixed between himself and Fanny. Then he gives the rope to Fanny to swing across to John. This time the focal point is between her and John. Someone somehow managed to "move" the rope in order to move the plot along. Robin rips the fletching off one side of the arrows he fires so he can hit two people at once. Ripping the fletching off will not cause the arrow to veer off in the opposite direction, it just makes the arrow a lot less accurate. When Robin cuts the rope supporting the chandelier in the Priest's room, Robin goes to the top of the tower (where the pulley is) but that is higher than where the chandelier hangs. Revealing Mistakes After Robin and Little John have fought on the river, it cuts to a shot high in the trees and the camera cranes down. In the upper right corner of the screen you can see a metal track on the ground, possibly a camera track. When Robin crashes through the stained glass window to save Marian and fight the sherrif, the panes of glass flutter in the breeze, showing clearly that they are made of paper. The fallen tree from which Robin gives his inspirational speech about freedom has obviously had several branches removed with a chainsaw. It may be hard to see the marks of the blade on a copy of the video, but in the cinema they were pretty obvious. When Robin shoots Will through the hand the arrow clearly misses by a mile and passes off screen, Will already has the arrow in his hand and you can see both at the same time. When the outlaws' hideout in Sherwood Forest is attacked 'by surprise' there are a large number of heavy catapults, which attack the hideout. Given the density of the forest and the size of the catapults, it probably would have taken over a week to get them in position. When Peter falls into the dirt after being hit by an arrow in Jerusalem there is a wooden thump. |
