Polled at 18th by Total Film Magazine in the Top 50 Blockbusters Ever:

"The Americans rework the legend of the poor robbing the rich into an entertaining, if factually dubious, epic. An all star cast and Bryan Adam's theme assured box office payola despite a rash of continuity errors and Kevin Costner's blandness. What made it worth the ticket price was Alan Rickman's turn as the Sheriff of Nottingham."

In Empire Magazine's 273 coolest film moments the 'Best Arrow Shot' was given to Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves:

"The first time Kevin Reynolds fixed his teeny camera to an arrow and it flew through the air towards its impossible target it was almost enough to forgive the flat action and Bryan Adams atrocity theme."

In a poll by Total Film for the 50 best movie heroes of all time and the top 10 villains, Alan Rickman as Sheriff of Nottingham was polled at 10th.

A British Newspaper 'The News of the World' recently published a list of the 100 most popular films based on the number of people who have seen the films in the  world. RH: POT came 87th with viewing figures of 97.8 million people.

A Newspaper supplement recently placed RH: POT at number 6 in the 10 best swashbucklers ever.
