Collin's Math Page
this site is dedicated to helping those Algebra iliterate students all over the world. We specialize in carefully explaining the procedures needed to complete some of the most basic and most difficult of equations.  We guarantee that if you complete the following examples just as we instruct you to, you will be solving every single equation you come accross with ease. Good Luck to you!
2(-3a+5)=-4(a+4)
     2     2       -4  -4
-6a+10=-4a+(-16)
-4a           -4a
-2a+10=-16
         10   10
-2a=-26
-2       -2
A=13
This a very simple problem, even though it looks difficult. First, get rid of the parentheses os distribute the 2 and the 4 on both sides. Next, combine like terms by subtracting the -4 from one side onto the other. Then subtract the 10 to the other side. Now you have a simple equation of -2a=-26. Dived both sides by 2 to get the answer as A=13. See, told you it was simple!
A=(b1+b2)h
         2
A=(b1+b2)h
2         2
2A=(b1+b2)h
2A=(b1+b2)
 h         h
2A=(b1+b2)
 h
2A=(b1+b2)
 h
-b2        -b2
2A - b2=b1
 h
This is a fairly difficult equation, but once you do it, it seems very easy! Your solving to B1. First, divide the 2 on both sides to even the equation out. Then get rid of the "h" by dividing it as well. Now that you have all the difficult factors on one side of the equal sign, just simply subtract b2 from both sides and you have the answer to b1! Congratulations
-(x + 7)=-6x + 8
 -1    -1
-1x + -7=-6x + 8
           7             7
-1x=-6x + 15
 6x   6x
5x=15
5      5
x=3
This problem is also very easy as long as you don't get the negatives mixed up. To start off, get rid of the parentheses. When you distribute the negative "X", be aware that it represents a negative 1x. After that, add a 7 to both sides and then add a 6x to bothsides. Once you've done that, you have a simple problem that requires you to divide 15 by 5x to come up with the answer of X=3. You did it!

Now that you have completed this web site share this precious knowledge with those that are less fourtunate. Tell them of how you went from and Algebra idiot to an Algebra genius.
