In the equation x/7+3=13
So by looking at this equation you know that you want to get x by itself.  For starters you will need to multiply both sides
7*x/7+3=13*7
x+3=73
by seven so that the sevens on the left side will cancel each other out and it will leave youwith the equation  x+3=73. Now you will need to subtract 3 from both sides, so that the 3 on the left side is canceled out and the 73  on the right side is reduced to a 70. thus leaving you with the equation x=70.  So therefore the answer to the equation is X=70.

 Y=12x+b  (2, 12)
In this equation we are solving for b so that we can get the y-intercept. To start us of we need to punch the two pints into the equation in its correct spot. Now the equation looks liek this 12=12(2)+b.  So we go ahead and begin to work the problem out.  12=24+b, subtract 24 from both sides, 12=24+b
-24 -24
-12=b
and thus it gives us -12=b, so the answer to the equation is Y=12x-12.

To solve the equation 5x-17=32-2x.  First you are going to want to get all the numbers to one side and the variable to the other.  To start it off add 17 to both sides.
5x-17=32-2x
   +17 +17
5x=49-2x.  Now we are going to want to add 2x to both sides.
5x=49-2x
+2x    +2x
7x=49  Now we want to get x alone so we are going to divide both sides by 7.
7x=49   x=7
7     7
