Lauren's Algebra Tips:
         Slope-Intercept:
Find the sloution for the following equation in slope-intercept form            (y = mx + b)
A line with a slope of 3 that goes through (2,9)
y = 3x + b Plug in the slope which is 3, in the place of the m
9 = 3(2) + b Plug in the coordinates of the y and x, in the y and x spots.
9 = 6 + b Times 3 by two.
9 = 6 + b
-6     -6
Take away the 6 in both sides of the equal sign.
9-6 = b Now take 6 away from 9.
3 = b Now you have b.
Solution: y = 3x + 3 Plug in the slope and b and you have your equation.
  •                Literal Equation:
  • Voltage
    V=IR   :Solve for R
    V= IR
    I    I
    Divide both sides by I
     Solution:  V=R
                        I
  • Find the x in the equation:
    7x + 7 = 2x + 2
    7x + 7 = 2x + 2
          -2          -2
    Take two away on both sides.
     7x + 5 = 2x
    -7x        -7x
    Take 7x away on both sides.
    -5 = -5x
    -5    -5
    Now divide both sides by -5.
    Solution: -1 = x
