Katie's Awesome Algebra II Equations

                                    Equation #1

1)  96 = -12c + 36                               Solve for c
2)  96 = -12c + 36                               Subtract 36 from
-36             -36                                both sides to get
                                                            -12c by itself
3)  60 = -12c                                       Divide both sides
    -12    -12                                         by -12, getting c by
                                                            itself
4)  c = -5                                             c = -5 (Answer)

Equation #2~Literal
Cailletet's and Mathias' Law

1)  1/2 (d1+ d2) = A + BT                    Solve for d1

2)  2/1 [1/2 (d1+ d2)] = (A + BT)2/1    Multiply both sides by
                                                            2/1 to get d1+d2 by
                                                            itself, and because
                                                            you multiply one
side by 2 you do it
                                                            to the other side.

3)  d1 + d2 = 2(A + BT)                       Subtract d2 from both
           -d2          -d2                             sides to isolate d1 on
                                                            the left side.

4)  d1 = 2(A + BT) - d2                        Answer

Equation #3

Give the slope-intercept form of an equation when given the following information:

****the slope of the line is 3 and it goes
through the point ( 2, 9) ****
1)  y = mx + b                            Slope-intercept form
2)  9 = 3(2) + b                          Substitute the data you
                                                   have into the slope-
                                                   intercept form
3)  9 = 6 + b                               Multiply the 3 times the 2
4)  9 = 6 + b                               Subtract 6 from both sides
    -6   -6                                     to get b by itself
5)  b = 3                                     Solved for b, now
substitute 3 for b in the
                                                   slope-intercept equation
6)  y = 3x + 3                             The slope-intercept form
of an equation for a line
with a slope of 3 and
                                                   travels through point
                                                   ( 2, 9)
