WHITNEY'S ALGEBRA BOUTIQUE

PLEASE SOLVE THIS EQUATION:
1.7(H-3)=-34 for H
1st You dist. the 1.7
1.7H-5.1=-34
2nd You +5.1 to both sides
1.7H=-28.9
3rd You divide by 1.7
H=-17

LETS TRY A NEW KIND ............
A "LITERAL" EQUATION!
V=VO+AT
FOR A:

1st You divide both sides by T
V=VO+AT
                                      T=      T
2nd You then subtract VO from both sides
V-VO=A
                                            T
(Just for your imfo. this equation is for finding constant acceleration.)

Your doing
fine hold on! One more!(mabey two!)
Now this is a whole new ball  game now:
Now I'll give you a line and you give me an equation:
If the slope is 3 and the line goes through (2,9)  what is
the equation?                                           (x,y)
1st You say y = mx+b
9=m2+3
(to find slope)
2nd You find that slope is
6=2m
3rd you divide by 3             3=3

4th you have

m=3
So your slope is3

Then put 3 in your equation

So your equation is

Y=3x+y
To find your Y
