    1.  Define temperature and explain how it is measured.

     2.  Describe the relationship between temperature and kinetic energy.

21.2  Heat
    3.  Define heat and explain why it is incorrect to think of matter as
          ontaining heat.

21.3  Thermal Equilibrium
     4.  Explain what determines whether heat will flow into or out of a substance.

21.4  Internal Energy
    5.  Distinguish between internal energy and heat.

21.5  Measurement of Heat
    6.  Describe how teh quantity of heat is measured.

21.6  Specific Heat Capacity
    7.  Compare the specific heat capacities of different substances.

21.7  The High Specific Heat Capacity of Water
    8.  Give examples of how the high specific heat capacity of water has an effect
          on the climate.

21.8  Thermal Expansion
    9.  Give examples of the expansion of solids as they become warmer.

     10.  Explain the operation of a bimetallic coil in a thermostat.

     11.  Compare the thermal expansion of liquids to solids.

21.9  Expansion of Water
     12.  Describe teh unusual behavior of water as it is heated from
0 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius.

     13.  Explain why water at certain temperatures contracts as it becomes warmer.

Misconceptions
Note:  The following statements are all FALSE!!!

    1.  Heat and temperature are the same.
     2.  Objects contain heat.
