Each student signed up for one quarter’s primary duty and one quarter’s secondary duty. Your point total should not exceed 100, but the closer it is to 100 the higher your grade for this assignment. Secondary monitors may earn points over the value listed according to how often they actually assist or replace the primary monitor for a task.

1. HALL PASS MONITOR

Compile and summarize weekly the number of times out of the classroom and the length of minutes of each hall pass for each student who leaves the classroom. Primary monitor completes the task weekly and arranges for Secondary monitor to complete task if necessary.

2. MATERIALS MONITOR

Assure that students return all materials and supplies (including class sets of written materials) to their proper locations. This responsibility includes making sure that the correct number of materials are returned. Primary monitor completes task daily as required, and enlists assistance of Secondary monitor as needed. Secondary monitor completes task if the Primary monitor is absent.

3. COMMONS MONITOR

Checks room for any trash on floor; cleans chalk borad and overhead. Primary monitor completes task daily as required and enlists assistance of secondary monitor as needed. Secondary monitor completes task if primary monitor is absent.

4. WEATHER MONITOR

Record daily indoor and outdoor temperature, relative humidity, clouds, wind speed, and wind direction. Primary monitor completes task and enlists assistance of Secondary monitor as needed. Secondary monitor completes task if Primary monitor is absent.

5. SOLAR MONITOR

Record exact time, angle of elevation of sun, and compass direction to sun. Primary monitor completes task daily and enlists assistance of Secondary monitor as needed. Secondary monitor completes task if Primary monitor is absent.

6. E-MAIL MONITOR

Scan class email box for latest email notice from selected earth/environmental science email listserve. Print the email and post in classroom. Maintain archive of email from the slected listserve. Primary monitor completes task daily (or as needed). Secondary monitor completes task if Primary monitor is absent.

7. BOOKS MONITOR

Checks that all class set books are replaced and in order. Makes sure that any handouts are given out. Collects all homework during "bellringer". Primary monitor is responsible for completing the duty and secondary monitor will assist as needed.

8. BULLETIN BOARD MONITOR

Set up and prepare room bulletin boards with appropriate seasonal update. Primary monitor and Secondary monitor work together to get it done.

9. FISH AND FISH TANK MONITOR

Set up and maintenance of the fish and fish tank. Primary monitor and secondary monitor work on it to as a team.

10. PLANTS MONITOR

Set up and maintain the plants in the room. Primary monitor and secondary monitor work as a team to keep it in order.
