To achieve his purpose of explaining the effects of racism, Malcolm X uses two types of argument. Fist, he explains that he has been turned into a Muslim and how he had been inspired by Elijah Muhammad. And how his spelling and grammar were as bad, if not worse. And that the whites denied him as a Muslim.
In this section Malcolm is telling us about his friendships and who he can not trust. Malcolm tells us about how he studies and teaches himself to read. Also, how Elijah Muhammad enclosed five dollar bills into mail for Malcolm. Elijah Muhammad send money all over the country to different prison inmates who writes to him.
At the same time, Malcolm felt that the real reason was that the white man knew that he was the devil. Malcolm was frustrated because he wasn’t able to express what he felt in letters; especially to Elijah Muhammad. Malcolm commanded attention when he talked. But when he tried to write, he was not articulate r he could not function right.
In
this section, Malcolm explains the Norfolk Prison’s colony’s library ways in
the school building. A variety of classes were taught there by instructors who
came from such places as Harvard and
Malcolm explains how he uses four different types of arguments. He used Argument by authority when his intuition told him to get rid of his gun. He gave a hustler the eye across the bar. He then slipped him the gun from his belt when he saw a cop through the other door. He also used Argument by emotion. Sophia being around was one of Shorty’s pleasures about Malcolm’s homecoming. He also used Argument by Analogy. Rudy remembered speaking of one cold white man who paid a black couple to watch them have intercourse on his bed.
Malcolm’s first time with Muslims around him was interesting. Malcolm had never dreamed of anything like the atmosphere among black people. He had learned to be proud of whom they were and black people needed to learn how to love each other instead of being jealous. Malcolm was thrilled on how the Muslim men used both hands to grasp a black man’s hands.
His arguments by authority and conversation show how hard he tried to convince his fellow convicts. While his implicit had stated assumptions both show the power of his arguments. His evidence show the weakness in his arguments and his strong points in this section. During his transformation to a Muslim. Malcolm went through a lot in his life. The big question is what would the world bi if Malcolm X was still alive today.
